Five AI Halloween costume looks we tested

Each look was made from the photo on its left with the exact prompt shown with it. Press Use this look to load the prompt and that sample photo, then swap in your own picture to make your own AI Halloween costume.

Original photo: smiling woman with red hair in a mustard sweater
Original
Woman with long violet braids and a black velvet gothic outfit standing in a foggy moonlit garden with lanterns

Selfie · Gothic glam

Midnight Braids

Long violet braids with silver clips, a black-and-purple velvet outfit and a foggy Victorian garden at night. A good pick if you want a costume that reads as fashion rather than fancy dress.

Our test kept her face, freckles and smile. The braids replaced her real red hair completely, so expect a full hair change with this one.

Prompt

Use the uploaded photo as the primary reference. Preserve the subject's recognizable facial identity, facial proportions, skin tone, approximate age and natural anatomy. Transform the subject into an original gothic Halloween fashion portrait. Change the hairstyle into long violet braids decorated with delicate silver hair accessories. Replace the clothing with an elegant black-and-purple velvet outfit featuring subtle lace and metallic details. Place the subject in a moonlit Victorian garden with soft fog, glowing lanterns and dark autumn foliage. Use photorealistic editorial photography, realistic fabric textures, natural skin details and cinematic soft lighting. Keep the same number of people as the uploaded photo. Avoid altered facial identity, extra limbs, duplicated fingers, distorted anatomy, text, logos and watermarks.

Original
Woman dressed as a forest witch in a green embroidered cloak and twig crown, holding a glowing lantern in a misty birch forest

Selfie · Witch

Forest Witch

A moss-green hooded cloak with leaf embroidery, a crown of twigs and dried flowers, and a small glowing lantern in a misty birch forest. A softer witch than the usual pointed hat.

The result was a full-length shot even though the photo was a close selfie, so the face is smaller. Ask for a waist-up portrait if you want it bigger.

Prompt

Use the uploaded photo as the primary reference. Preserve the subject's recognizable face, skin tone, approximate age and natural anatomy. Dress the subject as an original forest witch: a moss-green hooded cloak with embroidered leaf edges, a crown of bare twigs and small dried flowers, and a small glowing glass lantern held in one hand. Place the subject in a misty birch forest at blue hour with fallen leaves and faint floating lights. Photorealistic costume photography, real fabric texture, natural skin, soft cinematic light. Keep the same number of people as the uploaded photo. Avoid altered facial identity, extra limbs, distorted hands, text, logos and watermarks.

Original photo: smiling man with short locs in a plaid shirt
Original
Man in a silver and teal armored space hero suit with a blue cape on a night rooftop under a ringed planet

Selfie · Space

Galactic Hero

A fitted silver-and-teal armored suit with a glowing chest panel and a short midnight-blue cape, on a rooftop launch pad under a ringed planet. Original design, no badges or logos.

The suit and pose came out like a film poster. Keep the no-emblems line in the prompt, or the engine tends to add a chest symbol.

Prompt

Use the uploaded photo as the primary reference. Preserve the subject's recognizable face, skin tone, hairstyle, approximate age and natural anatomy. Dress the subject in an original galactic hero costume: a fitted silver-and-teal armored suit with a softly glowing chest panel and a short midnight-blue cape, with no emblems, letters or logos. Place the subject on a rooftop launch pad at night under a sky full of stars and a ringed planet. Photorealistic costume photography, believable materials, cinematic rim light. Keep the same number of people as the uploaded photo. Avoid altered facial identity, extra limbs, distorted hands, text, logos and watermarks.

Original photo: smiling man with dark hair and stubble in a denim jacket
Original
Man with skeleton face paint wearing a rib-print tuxedo and a red rose in a candlelit ballroom

Party · Face paint

Skeleton Gentleman

Black-and-white skeleton face paint that follows the real bone structure, a tuxedo printed with ribs and a red rose, in a candlelit ballroom. Spooky without any gore.

This is the look to test before you buy face paint: it shows how the design sits on your own face. A sliver of another guest crept in at the left edge.

Prompt

Use the uploaded photo as the primary reference. Preserve the subject's recognizable face shape, eyes, skin tone and natural anatomy under the makeup. Dress the subject as a skeleton gentleman: crisp black-and-white skeleton face paint that follows his real bone structure, a black tuxedo printed with white rib bones, and a deep red rose in the lapel. Place the subject in a candlelit ballroom with tall windows, cobwebbed chandeliers and soft haze. Photorealistic party photography, natural skin texture visible beneath the paint, warm candle light. Keep the same number of people as the uploaded photo. Avoid altered facial identity, gore, extra limbs, text, logos and watermarks.

Original photo: couple hugging on an autumn street at sunset
Original
Couple in a cowboy and angel costume, he in a cowboy hat and fringe jacket, she with white feathered wings, at a barn party with pumpkins

Couple · Party

Cowboy and Angel

He gets a worn cowboy hat, a suede fringe jacket and a bandana; she gets a white dress, feathered wings and a golden ring above her head, at a barn party full of pumpkins and string lights.

Both faces held and they kept the same hug as the original photo. Use one photo of you together; two separate photos are not needed.

Prompt

Use the uploaded photo of the couple as the primary reference. Preserve both people's recognizable faces, hair, skin tones, approximate ages and the way they stand together. Turn them into a cowboy and angel couple costume: the man wears a worn brown cowboy hat, a suede fringe jacket and a bandana; the woman wears a flowing white dress, soft feathered wings and a thin golden halo. Place them at a barn Halloween party with hay bales, carved pumpkins and warm string lights at night. Photorealistic party photography, natural skin, real fabric and feather texture. Keep exactly two people. Avoid altered facial identity, extra limbs, text, logos and watermarks.

Why try an AI Halloween costume before the party

An AI Halloween costume is a photo of you wearing the outfit, made from a picture you already have. It answers the question every costume search starts with: will this actually look good on me?

See it on you before you spend

Try three or four AI Halloween costume ideas on your own face and body in a few minutes, then buy or make only the one that works. Costumes are hard to return after October.

Plan a couple costume together

Upload one photo of the two of you and both get dressed in the same picture. Send it to your partner instead of a wall of shop links.

Wear what you could never sew

Armor, wings and a glowing space suit are easy in a picture. Post it as your Halloween photo when the real party outfit is simpler.

AI Halloween costume questions

How do I try on a Halloween costume with AI?

Upload a clear photo to the box at the top of this page, press Use this look on one of the five cards or type your own costume, and press Generate. The AI Halloween costume picture keeps your face and changes the outfit, hair and background.

Is there a free AI Halloween costume generator?

Not on Monipix, and we would rather say so here. Making pictures needs a subscription or a one-time credit pack; the free monthly credits cover photo upscaling only. Each look costs 8 credits at the default 2K size or 5 at 1K.

Will my AI Halloween costume still look like me?

In our five tests every face stayed recognisable, including freckles and smiles. Faces drift more with small, dark or side-on photos, so use a sharp front-facing picture and keep the prompt line that asks to preserve the face.

Can I make a couple costume from one photo?

Yes. Upload one picture of you both and describe what each person wears, as in the Cowboy and Angel card. Both people are dressed in the same image. Write who wears what clearly, for example the man and the woman, or the person on the left.

Which AI Halloween costume ideas work best?

Looks with a clear outfit, a clear place and a clear light come out best: a witch in a misty forest, a skeleton at a candlelit party. Very busy group scenes and tiny props are harder. Start from a card and change one thing at a time.

Can I dress up as a famous character or celebrity?

We only show original looks here and ask you not to copy a real person's face or a protected character. Describe the style instead, such as a gothic queen or a space hero, and give it your own colours and details.

Which AI makes the costume pictures?

The box starts on Nano Banana 2, Google's image editor, and you can switch to Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2 or Seedream above. Our examples were made with the earlier Nano Banana, so results can differ a little from the cards.

What happens to the photos I upload?

Only upload photos of yourself or of adults who agreed to it, never of children. Your photos and results are not sold; they go to the service that makes the picture and stay in your history until you delete them. Every face on this page is fictional.
